Foire Brayonne, July-Aug 2010

October 4, 2010 at 6:37 PM (Art happenings)

This was my first time participating in my home-town’s annual festival and to my great contentment I did superbly well! I nearly sold out of aprons and sashes. Cards sold a little slower but perhaps that is not the right environment for them. I will definitely be signing up for next year….

Marché de Shédiac, Allée des Artistes 2010

October 4, 2010 at 6:03 PM (Art happenings)

Shédiac was bustling for me this summer. First with the residency, then the Shediac Market every Sunday and the Alley of Artists every Thursday. Things went ultimately well; I had good days and not so good days. The response was overwhelming with positive feedback but the sales weren’t always finalized. People seem to love my work but many say my aprons are too beautiful to wear, which makes absolutely no sense to me, as I believe we should always look fabulous! No matter what the context, event or daily doing.

Of course it’s put a dent in my creative flow for I wonder if they are not right. Perhaps I should go another route. Yet the clientele that does buy from me tells me otherwise. That there is a market for my work, I just need to target it and develop other lines for the mass who could do with something else ‘too’ beautiful. I’ve also had a lot of demand for clothing, mainly skirts and dresses, which I have begun to develop, especially with the inspiration I got from my trip to Quebec City last week.

After a month off, pondering and rummaging around in my mind, I am finally getting back on track and getting the business back in motion. Stay tuned for new products and a busy fall and winter. 🙂

Residency extended an extra week!

July 8, 2010 at 8:37 PM (Art happenings)

Things are going well in my new temporary studio. I have made  189 cards and designed 35 aprons. Tomorrow I start to sew. And I get a whole other week to finish my project! Que maravilloso!

Light and tree shadows dance into my studio and against my computer as I write these words. Is there anything more enchanting or inspiring than a late summer afternoon mosaic of light swirling about? At this precise moment, there is not….

Artist(e) en/in Residence Maison Pascal Poirier, Shédiac NB

June 16, 2010 at 8:08 PM (Art happenings)

During the week of July 4th (Sunday) through the 10th (Saturday) between 11h am and 7pm, I will be Artist in Residence at La Maison Pascal Poirier in Sédiac NB. A relatively new place where artisans can showcase their work. I’m really excited about this, even though it doesn’t pay. It is my first residency and I am anxious to experience this new, well experience! Plus it will be during a bustling tourist season. I will get to meet hundreds of people hopefully and make new friends and contacts. Thanks daddy for bringing this place to my attention 🙂

Entrevue Radio Canada – June 8th 2010

June 16, 2010 at 6:58 PM (Art happenings)

Oh well. Heehee!

I wish I could go back and redo this interview. I had more interesting things to say but they simply didn’t come out! Oh well. It’s a good start though and it gave me a lot of exposure! Now if I could only land an interview with Trudy Gallagher of Fashion East-Ah! on Rogers and the CBC… 😉 I’d be all set! While we’re at it, why not make a pit stop to see Georgie on the Hour! Heehee!

May 31, 2010 at 9:28 PM (Journal Entry)

On respire.

Bella web life

May 27, 2010 at 7:45 PM (Journal Entry)

I am starting to link all the pieces together. Aprons, food, cooking, farm life, gardens… I’ve been seeing the big picture for a long time; the individual pieces even longer. Now my world seems to be convoluting into a spider web. One made of needles and thread.
